A Modest Addition
Our client, an art-lover who has a preference for vibrant color, hired us to maximize the amount of living space she could achieve while not increasing the footprint of her home and while keeping within her budget.
Like many of us, this client was too busy with her day job to keep up with much needed maintenance on her charming historic home. (Please see the “BEFORE” photo.) The original stone house was sturdy, but the later addition fell victim to the ravages of time. The local zoning ordinance dictated that any improvements could not increase the existing footprint of the home and its modest deck. Additionally, it was important to maintain the historic character of the original home.
The new addition replaces the later addition and provides needed space for a New Kitchen, Laundry, two full baths, Sunroom and a Master Bedroom Suite. The scale of the addition respects that of the original home and, while taller, does not overpower. Maintenance free exterior finishes help provide the client with worry-free time to pursue her career and her art. (Please see the "AFTER" photo.)
